A Friend’s House is dedicated to meeting the emotional and physical needs of children in crisis. Services such as counseling, medical treatment, academic assistance and recreational opportunities are available for the children. In 2008, the Henry County Department of Family and Children Services received 2,146 reports of child abuse, neglect or abandonment.That averages 179 reports each month!statistics are heartbreaking considering these numbers have more than doubled since 1998.

Since its founding in 1925, the VFW National Home has grown from an old frame farm house to a sprawling campus with playgrounds, park areas, and multiple buildings, including single-family homes, a community center and gymnasium, child care center, guest lodge, chapel and administrative offices.

The National Home’s services have also evolved to meet the changing needs of America’s military and veterans’ families. Through our Help line and our on-campus programs, we are able to help families and children through times of crisis, both here on our beautiful campus and in their own communities nationwide.

All Services provided at no cost for any victim of family violence and has an 18 bed safety shelter. These services include a 24 hour crisis line, legal advocacy, case management, safety planning, COPE (A one on one program for children in domestic violence situations), professional counseling, resettlement, plus follow up services.

The purpose of The Salvation Army Metro Atlanta Red Shield Services Emergency and Transitional Housing Facility (Red Shield Shelter) is to provide strategic intervention, refuge and safe lodging for homeless men, women and families with children in crisis. Our focus is to provide emergency, transitional and recovery programs that empower people of all ages to begin their transition to stable independence; by discovering and overcoming the root causes of their homelessness.

Peace Place, Inc. empowers victims, survivors and our communities to break the cycle of domestic violence through the provision of safe shelter, supportive services, and community awareness in Banks, Barrow and Jackson counties. We strive to empower our clients by assisting those in need of safe shelter, advocacy, resources, support groups, children’s and teen programs, legal and outreach and promotion of self and self care in order to move through the trauma of domestic violence and into a life of peace and happiness.

Through its foster care and innovative programs, NYAP provides opportunities, resources, and strong support to both participants and dedicated foster parents.
